My Parents celebrated their 53RD Anniversary this past Month and How did they do it ??
Wow, these days its hard to find people who have been married 20 years straight let alone over 50 years. Well, my parents just celebrated 53 years in June. And it is amazing to see two people sharing their lives with Love and Commitment like they do.
Dont get me wrong when I was a young boy I remember my parents had some pretty intense fights and arguments. They had a few up and downs just like everybody else. But they always reconciled , and I think the most important ingredient that has kept their Marriage thriving (and many others for that matter) is keeping a strong line of communication open.
Being able to communicate with your significant other is paramount , and in the long run it will determine if your relationshipwill last or not. That is just the bottom line !
I see so many couples who get into fights and arguments and they NEVER resolve that particular dispute. They end up coming back together, but they never completly resolve the issue they were arguing over. So what happens in this case ? Well, resentment swells up inside the individuals but they bury it and over time it just festers inside them. This puts a strain on the relationship and will no doubt cause problems down the road.
My wife and I have arguments and disagreements on a regular basis. But we rarely go to bed without resolving the issues we were arguing over.
Also I think it is important that at least one person should be the so called ‘hero’ in the relationship when hard times do occur. This is something that Dr. Phil has mentioned and it makes sense. When two people in a relationship start to really get heated over an issue its important that at least one person reigns sensibility back in and keep a cool head. That person should realize that it is not worth it to get all heated up and that the relationship is more important than that. Remeber cool heads always prevail.
Anyway, I think everyone can take a lesson from my parents. And realize there will be tough times in any relationship. But that a belief that the relationship and love you have for your significant other will ALWAYS outweigh any issues that may arise between the two of you !! 
So How Did I Actually Meet My Wife ??
Hey guys. Me, wifey, and the kids are heading into vacation mode here in the next few days. I am looking forward to it. We just celebrated our 3rd anniversary a few weeks ago. Time really flies !!
Anyway, I get asked alot on how I met my wife. So you really want to know ?? Well the fact is I met my wife 5 years ago at get this…….. a BAR !! Thats right one of those places that are supposed to be no good for nothing except getting drunk at and hooking up for one night stands !!
I think many people would be surprise on how many human beings have met their spouses at Bars. The number is probably higher than you think.
And this is really an important point that I have talked about in the past on this Blog and that everyone should make note of. That is do not write off someone just because you met them at a place that is historically frowned upon to meet people…….like Bars and Clubs !! Some of the happiest Marriages have been initially one night stands that turned into serious relationships.
Now dont get me wrong. I think that there may be other places that could be better options than meeting people bars. Places like Church, via friends, via family, dating services etc.. But just remember to all you single people. When you go to a singles bar and think that there are NO quality people there , what does that say about you ?? In other wards there can and often is quality people at these places just like you !! So dont be so quick to write off people at that saturday night honky tonk.
You just might be writing off your future wife or husband.
